“I Do”

This is very late coming, but in case you don’t follow me on Facebook or MySpace, Jay and I are engaged. He asked me on March 1st, 2009 and I of course said yes.
We are planning a wedding, but it will resemble more of a cocktail party than a traditional wedding. Want more info? Click here.
It’s been forever
Since I last updated. I guess everything is moving and changing so fast, I haven’t had the online time I used to. Derby is in full swing again. That’s the biggest contributing factor. We played our first game sans moi, due to shoulder injury.
Our second game is this weekend in Eureka Springs; “Ozark Mountain Showdown.”

It’s going to be a blast. I am an alternate for the Betties team (when they don’t have enough players, I get to step in). It’ll be a good test of my shoulder. Facing a season full of All Star Killbilly bouts has me a bit worried, but my rehab has been going really well. I think it’ll be fine.
Leaving right after work on Friday for Eureka. Several of us are spending two days there. It’s Diversity Weekend, so there is lots of “gay” stuff to do. (ha ha, just kidding).
Other stuff going on, but not ready to post about it just yet.
Gross but true.
A “normal” uterus weighs in at about 100 grams.
Mine? 295 grams.
Ummmm yeah.
I don’t know how to relax.
Well not very well. When I take my pain meds and sleep I get good rest, but I find myself wanting to do stuff that I am not supposed to be doing and it’s driving me crazy. Travis has to keep reminding me that I need to just lay down and take it easy.
Recovery has been good. I think I am going to be back to work and skating sooner than anticipated. I have had a few visitors, that makes it extra nice. And my friend Elabeth sent me a beautiful living orchid. I will have to get some good photos of it once I locate my camera.
At some point during my stay at the hospital I had someone take this photo…it must have been after I was out of surgery in my dark room with my cell phone.
I think I look pretty tired. But Then I took this one right before I left the hospital on Wednesday.
Much perkier. I go back to see my doctor next week to check on my progress. He’s also going to tell me how much the fibroids weighed after being sent to pathalogy. The only “issue” with the surgery was that my uterus was apparently enlarged due to the size of the fibroids. So I’m interested in seeing how big it actually was.
Gross? Yes.
I’m fine
I’m back at home. My surgery went well. I’m just recovering in bed on pain meds. Yay!
Oops! Surgery
I guess I haven’t informed the world as to why exactly I am having surgery. I got a lost of questions after my last post, so here’s the deal:
Apparently I have some fibroids in my uterus. Not a big deal, women get these all the time. Mine have been causing pain, irregular (as in every two weeks) periods, etc. They went in, poked around and discovered that one of them is 5.5 centimeters wide…so they decided it would be best for me to get a hysterectomy.
They are leaving my ovaries, but taking the rest. We talked about alternatives, but really there is no reason for me to seek alternatives considering I don’t want children. I would more than likely end up back in the hospital getting this done eventually anyway…..so I am just going ahead with it.
So that’s the big mystery. I don’t have a brain tumor or a heart condition….just a girlie thang.

Many of my friends have requested that I post a list of foods I might want while I’m recovering. Travis is a great cook and will do just fine taking care of me, but here’s the list in case you would like to bring me some grub. (but seriously….this was requested by my friends to post…not me)
El Camino
1. Veggie Burrito
-No Cheese
-No sour cream
-No lettuce
-With Cilantro
Taste of Thai
1. Panang Curry with Fried Tofu
-No fish sauce
-Hot
2. Veggie Spring Rolls
3. Pad Thai with Tofu
-No Fish Sauce
-No egg
-Hot
Hunan Manor
1. Crispy Tofu
-with steamed rice
2. Broccoli with Garlic Sauce
-with steamed rice
Flying Burrito or QDoba
1. Rice Bowl
All the veggies are fine. Just no sour cream or cheese, or cheese sauce.
The black beans are “safe” from both of these places. I never get the peppers and onions at Flying Burrito, because it’s an extra charge that’s not really worth it. But I am a fan of the guacamole.
Racha Thai
1. Curried Lemon Grass Tofu
-No fish sauce
-With steamed rice
2. Eggplant with Tofu
-No fish sauce
-With steamed rice
Starbucks
1. Iced vanilla soy latte…..yummmm!
2. Regular soy latte…any flavor is good.
Common Grounds
1. Soy Razzamatazz…yummmmm!
-No whip
2. Birdseed Salad
Basically anything with no cheese, no sour cream, no animal stuff. It’s always hard to know though how people make their food. ONF is always cool….a lot of their stuff will say “vegan” right on the package, or their staff will know. Vegan muffins, frozen pizzas, cookies, etc. I also like junk food, so nothing has to be fancy. French fries are fun (except McDonalds which are not vegan). Bean burritos with rice and no cheese from Taco Bell are yummy as well.
My surgery is scheduled for 8:30 Tuesday morning (December 16th)
I will be staying overnight, and should be sent home Wednesday morning if all goes well.
I’ll be in bed at least for a few days, and off of work and very limited activities for 1 month, unless I prove to be a badass and recover soon, which I hope to do.
Pre-thanks to you all for being awesome supportive friends!

Pierre: March 2, 2002 – December 3, 2008

Little Pierre is gone. We had to have him put to sleep this morning.
His platelet count dropped from 9,000 to 3,000. His lungs were also filling with blood making it hard for him to breath.
Needless to say, I’ve cried and cried about this, but I wanted to document it here to have for later. It was one of the worst things I have ever been through. But at least he is not hurting anymore.
Love your pets. Make their lives as happy as possible.
Little P. P. Bear, I love you.
